Hello Reader Have you ever fallen into the Hesitator Trap? Sometimes it occurs because you fear change but sometimes it is because you’ve become so busy you stop listening closely to your clients’ changing needs. The Hesitator Trap is one of the top three common focus mistakes that consultant’s make. Although I call it a focus mistake I could have just as easy called it the top “Business Core” mistake. The reason is this mistake can also impact your ideal client profile and service offerings. For more on the Hesitator Trap, check out this week’s video and hear how Sarah’s successful consulting business spiraled downward as she remained true to her focus but don’t listen to the changing needs and wants of their ideal client resulting in her losing sight of the need to remain relevant. The other two mistakes? The first mistake is known as “Jack-of-all-Trades, Master of None” or the "Curse of Experience" because you struggle to define a clear niche. The result is clients are unclear as to how you can help them. The second mistake, which I discussed last week, is known as the “Drifter” because you add services that don’t tie to your focus causing your business to spiral downward. If you are interested in avoiding the Drifter mistake, check out Are You a Drifter? How to Avoid a Common Consultant Focus Mistake. This week’s question.
When is the last time you assessed your focus, ideal client profile, and service offering to ensure you are remaining relevant and providing the right value to your ideal client?
