What’s Your Point of View—and Can You Clearly Articulate It?

Hello Reader

Many consultants think they have a strong Point of View. They talk about their years of experience or their unique background or their value proposition. None of which are their Point of View.

When asked to clearly explain how they create results for clients which is what their Point of View, they often pause and fall flat.

And that’s a costly mistake.

A Point of View (POV) is not your value proposition. It’s not just “what you do.”

It’s

how you see your clients’ problems,
what you believe is possible for them, and
your approach to helping them achieve their needs and wants.

Your Point of View is all about the journey your take your clients on. It reflects your philosophy, your priorities, and your process designed to help them. It shapes your tactical services, your marketing messaging, the content you provide, and how people perceive you.

In this video, Market You with the Help of Your Consulting Point of View, I walk through:

  • What a Point of View really is (and isn’t)
  • Why it’s one of your most valuable assets as a consultant
  • How it is powerful marketing tool
  • Examples of how using a Point of View builds trust and wins business
  • Tips to help you develop and refine your own Point of View

Even if you don’t watch the video, here are a few things you can reflect on right now:

What do you believe your ideal clients are struggling to achieve or missing from their business? This question is where a powerful Point of View begins. Consultants with a strong Point of View have a firm belief that the “usual” way doesn’t work and they offer a better alternative.
What results do you help clients achieve and how is your approach different from your competitors? Your Point of View lives in the how. You may use the same tools as your competitors, but your philosophy and approach set you apart.
Does your Point of View attract the right clients, the people who want to work with you and those with whom you want to work? A clear Point of View helps people resonate with you. It builds trust faster because it shows you understand them and makes it easy for them to feel an alignment with you.

A well-developed Point of View not only helps clients understand what you stand for but it helps you stay focused, consistent, and confident in your business decisions. A strong, well-communicated Point of View not only differentiates you—it builds trust and gets clients to say “yes.”
