Hello Reader If you’re like many independent consultants, you hope referrals will lead to your next client. And sometimes they do. But other times, they don’t. Or worse, you get referrals that waste your time. Referrals should be a powerful way to grow your business. But if you don’t have approach as to how you ask for them, they’re just wishful thinking. You need a better way. One that’s clear, consistent, and repeatable. As I continue with the relationship building series of videos, I thought it was time to provide a few referral tips with this video... Inside, I walk through 5 practical recommendations that help you get referrals (or what I prefer to call introductions) that actually go somewhere. Let me share one of the tips with you: Ask for introductions, not referrals. The word “referral” means different things to different people. • One person thought I wanted a testimonial. But when I changed how I asked for a referral to “Would you be willing to introduce me to someone like X?” Everything shifted. It was clearer. Less formal. Easier for them to say yes. This one shift alone can improve the quality of your referrals. If you want four more referral tips that lead to clients, not conversations, then watch... It’s under 15 minutes. It might change the way you think about referrals for good. And if nothing else, the tips are a good starting point for you to create you own Referral Strategy.
